lets not get mad here, but.....just 12,500 miles - 1998 Lexus LS 400
By JMC - July 2 - 4:17 amFor years, I have been forced to see this magnificent automobile just sit in a garage...gather dust..be driven occasionally, and not very far. I begged, pleaded, and in many ways showed a willingness to damn near anything to buy that car. Finally, my sister in law gave in...and sold me the car. A true garage find. But I knew where it was all along. I no longer could just drive it once a year, to take it to the car wash and wish it were mine. I had all the fluids changed, belts (timing and serpentine) changed...the dealership screws up the belt change, but made good on the ensuing problems as I drove it back to Idaho (1300 miles) Lord, what a magnificent automobile. I have, until recently, driven Acuras....and they are great cars also. But this 1998 LS 400...is magnificent. I hesitate to take it out of the garage, leaving my 2013 Volvo out in the weather. Volvos dont need pampering. A Lexus demands it. I dont know if any of this helps you....I hope you get a Lexus that drives and performs like mine. And no, you cant have it. Now allow me to update...there is a rather strong smell in the "Queen"...cant figure out what it is or why. I tried a device that is supposed to take the smells out....just works for a while. Im going to wait until spring to search again...but its Im my garage and I love it.

Dont buy this car. - 1998 Lexus LS 400
By turbochris15u - December 6 - 6:57 pmDo not buy this car if youre not prepared to be awed into wondering why you considered buying anything else. I purchased my 98 model from a local dealership owned by a friend for just under 6k with 262k miles on it from the original owner. The same day of the purchase I changed the oil and front brake pads and rotors as a precaution then proceeded to drive the car 2000+ miles down the west coast. I maintained no less than 28.6mpg average at 80+mph in supreme comfort. The car has lots of power and the 5 speed auto keeps the car in its sweet spot when maximum performance is required. I love every aspect of this car.

Finest automobile Ive owned - 1998 Lexus LS 400
By Herb Yeary - February 12 - 2:00 amI am a senior who has owned many autos in the last sixty-two years. Our last cars, a 1986 Cressida, and a 1997 Avalon I thought excellent. Our Lexus is far and away the best and most luxurious. What a marvelous piece of machinery. For the life of me I cant understand how the engine can be so very strong and so audibly subtle! Simply put were sold!!

Absolute Best! - 1998 Lexus LS 400
By Dennis Greene - February 5 - 5:13 pmThis is absolutely the best car on the planet to own for the long term! I purchased mine certified for $25K two years ago and I simply love this car. I actually get about 30 MPG highway cruising about 5MPH over the limit. No mechanical problems...none. Took a hit in the rear on a snowy day on I-95 causing $8k of damage, but protected me and my family as advertised and the ABS and vehicle anti-skid worked as promised. Also, Lexus service has been excellent and not too overly expensive like my last Mercedes 560 SEL. My family and friends are surprised to learn that I paid less with a better warranty than they did for their new SUVs, and I get much better mileage to boot. Winner!

1998 Lexus LS400 - 1998 Lexus LS 400
By ChrstFltch - September 19 - 8:46 pmThis is an excellent car. I purchased it used in 2003, and this was an excellent decision on my part. I will be purchasing a CLK 500 Mercedes next month (June 2008), I wanted something a little smaller. However, I refuse to get rid of this car, they could never give me enough to trade in my vehicle. The car still looks good inside and out (10 years old). I get so many stares. I guess I will need a bigger garage. This car rides smooth, and is extremely reliable. Since it is 10 years old, of course it requires routine maintenance, not too expensive. This is a fine machine, exceeds expectations!

Best of the Best - 1998 Lexus LS 400
By greg hadden - August 24 - 12:53 amLexus makes the BEST cars period. The LS shows it all off and gets you there in style, comfort, with a bit of performance. Youll not have to worry about these cars as they are virtually indestructable with bulletproof engines and transmissions. This is the fourth LS Ive owned, moving from a 92 to 94 to 96 and now the 98 which is far superior to the others in the options and styling that it offers. The Xenon HIDs and Nakamichi sound really make a difference. Buy this car, you wont be sorry.
